1. Introduction

Welcome to SpeechKarma. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. SpeechKarma is a platform for documenting and publishing public statements made by politicians. If you disagree with any part of these terms, please do not use our service.

2. User Accounts

To submit statements, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete information during registration
  • Maintain the security of your password and account
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

2.1 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. SpeechKarma will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account information.

3. User-Generated Content

SpeechKarma allows authenticated users to submit statements made by politicians. By submitting content, you:

  • Affirm that the statement is a genuine public statement made by the attributed politician
  • Grant SpeechKarma a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display your submitted content
  • Retain ownership of the content you submit
  • Accept that submitted statements become part of the public record on our platform

3.1 Grace Period

You may edit or delete your submitted statements within 15 minutes of creation. After this grace period, statements become permanent public records and cannot be modified or removed by users.

3.2 Content Standards

All submitted statements must:

  • Be factual representations of statements actually made by the attributed politician
  • Include accurate date and time information
  • Not contain spam, malicious code, or inappropriate content
  • Comply with applicable laws and regulations

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Submit false or misleading statements
  • Attribute statements to politicians who did not make them
  • Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or servers
  • Use automated systems to access the service without permission
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Reporting and Moderation

Users can report statements they believe are inaccurate, spam, or inappropriate. SpeechKarma reserves the right to:

  • Review and investigate reported content
  • Remove content that violates these terms
  • Suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these terms
  • Take appropriate action to maintain the integrity of the platform

6. Disclaimer

SpeechKarma is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We make no guarantees about:

  • The accuracy of user-submitted content
  • The availability or reliability of the service
  • The fitness of the service for any particular purpose
  • The absence of errors or defects

All statements on SpeechKarma are submitted by users and do not represent the views or opinions of SpeechKarma.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SpeechKarma and its operators will not be liable for:

  • Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
  • Loss of profits, data, or goodwill
  • Service interruptions or data loss
  • Third-party content or actions
  • Unauthorized access to or alteration of your transmissions or data

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. When we make changes:

  • Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms

9. Termination

Upon termination, you may lose access to your account, but submitted statements may remain on the platform as part of the public record.
